Golden Peace

The golden yellow flowers of Calendula officinalis have been used as medicine for centuries. Historically, Calendula flowers have been considered beneficial in reducing inflammation, promoting wound healing, and used as an antiseptic. Calendula has been used to treat a variety of skin diseases and has been seen effective in treatment of skin ulcerations and eczema. Called  also the Golden Flower or Mary , this is the  most common flower .

 The reason why we use calendula for skin over other oils is because its high levels carotenoids , which are nourishing but also because it contains small amounts of salicylic acid, the active ingredient contained in aspirin. So besides the ability of healing it also has the power to take the sting out of broken skin.

Through the centuries it has mainly been used in tinctures but we are lucky enough to be able to access the carrier oil which is made from a maceration of the petals and which is also my personal favourite maceration. This soap consist for 30% if this maceration of the petals in olive oil.   

Ingredients: coconut oil, palm oil, calendula infused in olive oil, shea butter, grapeseed oil, safflower oil, castor oil, green clay, calendula petals.

Shampooing Green Love

Depuis que j’ai vu ‘Sodium Lauryl Sulfate‘ (produit irritant) sur la liste des produits du shampooing  que j’ai acheté , j’ai  toujours été  à la recherche d’un shampooing fait maison.  Il y a 3 mois, j’ai déjà fait un shampooing liquide pour mes filles,  mais je voulais aussi avoir un shampooing barre pour  l’utiliser pendant les vacances et pour varier les plaisirs.

Ce shampooing “solide” est enrichi en vinaigre de cidre en Argile verte afin de nettoyer et purifier les cheveux gras en douceur. L’ortie piquante,  efficace dans la lutte  contre les pellicules et la chute de cheveux, vient renforcer  les bienfaits  de ce shampooing actif. On frotte doucement ce shampooing solide sur  les cheveux mouillés afin de le faire mousser,  et on masse  le cuir chevelu comme avec un shampooing classique puis on rince . Le résultat: les cheveux sont nourris en profondeur afin de les rendre brillants, propres et pleins de vigueur.

C’est un shampooing barre qui abonde en mousse, et qui dure longtemps. Conclusion: je l’adore!

Green & white clay soap

This is one of my favourite soaps as it contains besides vegetable oils ( coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil, grapeseeds oil, safflower oil) green and white clay. I have already used once green clay in soap and I was really impressed by the benefits of this natural ingredient. White clay is known as the mildest of all clays, making it the perfect treatment for those with a sensitive and dry skin.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Amy for these lovely moments during these 11 weeks. Those were weeks full of inspiration, colours, smiles. I learned new techniques, I admired hundreds of soaps, I discovered new soap blogs but especially I met nice people and all this thanks to Amy. Thank you Amy for your engagement of helping us, for commenting on every single post, for sharing with us your nice experiments.

I know I will miss all this weekly ‘homework’ .

Domino

Ik had al lang in mijn gedachten een zeep in domino-vorm, enkel was ik niet zeker welke kleuren te kiezen, aangezien ik een natuurlijke zeep wilde hebben. Eerst dacht ik aan rode klei en wortelsap kleur, maar die 2 componenten heb ik al  zo vaak gebruikt J . Toen ik een mooie  zeep met groene klei van Gene gekregen heb ( bedankt Gene ),  was ik er zeker van dat mijn zeep met groene klei moet zijn. Groene klei is heel bekend als schoonheidsmiddel maar ook voor het helen van huidwondjes want ze bevordert de regeneratie van het huidweefsel. Naast die kleurige klei, heb ik ook witte klei gebruikt. De witte klei of kaoliniet  is een echt reddingsmiddel voor de vette en gevoelige huid.  Klei absorbeert het overtollige vet, reguleert de talgproductie, geeft aan de huid essentiële bouwstoffen terug.

De samenstelling: cocos olie, canola (colza olie), olijf olie, shea boter, castor olie, thee –boom E.O., lavender E.O.,lemongrass E.O., petitgrain bigarade E.O., witte en groene klei.

Cateva cuvinte despre acest sapun : am vrut un sapun in doua culori naturale. Initial imi era gandul la sucul demorcovi si argila rosie, insa am tot folosit aceasta combinatie in ultimul timp. Argila verde era o alta varianta insa verdele dat de argila nu mi se pare foarte puternic, ori trebuie pus si mai multa argila pentru un verde pronuntat, insa atunci sapunul devine cumva prea moale dupa cateva utilizari. Insa  incercarea vina n-are J . Data viitoare as vrea sa incerc verdele cu spirulina, cred ca iese un verde mult mai frumos.  Sapunul e parfumat cu ulei de arbore de ceai, lavanda, lemongrass si petitgrain bigarade.

Argile

Sunt dependenta de argile. Imi plac atat de mult incat le folosesc mai mult decat recomandat. Studenta fiind, mi-aduc aminte ca o colega folosea argila intern. Mie insa, mi au trebuit cativa ani buni ca sa descopar beneficiile argilei luate intern.

Cu aceste argile am facut , putin, ocolul Europei: argila albastra si aia roz din Romania, argila verde deschis si aia inchis din Franta, argila rosie din Belgia, argila violet iarasi din Franta, argila neagra din Russia insa cumparata in Moldova .

Argila violeta este mai mult pentru un rebatch , ce pacat:( . Nu stiu cum se comporta argila albastra in sapun, banuiesc ca isi schimba si ea culoarea. Argila rosie imi place in sapun, desi devine cumva maronie, dar e ok. Cea verde e superba, isi pastreaza culoarea, ce bine!

Groene klei

Groene klei is tot dusver mijn favoriet. Over groene klei is er heel veel te vertellen. Het schijnt dat de samenstelling van de deze klei  lijkt op die van de mens : zij  bevat verschillende mineralen( calcium,magnesium, silicium, ijzer, kalium ) en daarom is ze zo goed in het afvoeren van de toxische stoffen uit het bloed . Deze klei, ook wel ‘franse klei’ genoemd is heel bekend voor het helen van huidwondjes want ze bevordert de regeneratie van het huidweefsel. Redenen genoeg voor een zeep vol klei.
