Squeeze Bottle Technique

This months challenge was Squeeze Bottle Designs,  a technique I had never heard about before. I like finding out about new techniques, especially when I have to put them in practice. As for Amy, the technique was first demonstrated on Sirona Springs blog by Ruth Esteves.

So this month’s challenge is to make a design on soap using squeeze bottles( I didn’t have it so used a piping bag). The design is applied with squeeze bottles/piping bags to the mold and then the remaining soap batter is poured over the top.

What I mostly like about this technique is that the creative possibilities are endless, and so I couldn’t decide quickly on what I could do. I was first thinking about some Greek signs and characters, and about zodiac signs, and still couldn’t decide. But while helping my elder daughter with her schoolwork I stopped doubting: she had to learn the combination of ‘U’ and ‘I’ (UI) in Flemish and the word she had to learn was ‘UIL’, which means OWL. She was repeating for several days this UIL word, and it made me decide to draw an UIL. Of course, my daughter was very enthousiast !.

Here’s how it looked after I finished squeezing the design into the mold:

The soap cut:I was so content about this technique that I decided to make a second attempt. The only problem: I was not sure the drawing would be visible enough as the lines were really too thin. But it worked, not really perfect and the ash was, of course, there but…I am content with the results.
